The last week of 2013 was very quiet for me. I was alone at home and spent my days watching football, going for walks and cycling.

As I often do, I went for a walk in the centre of Alicante on Christmas Day. In the morning it was raining, and the city was virtually deserted:

Later in the day, my friend Egle invited me for a Lithuanian Christmas lunch. Here are her two daughters, whom we have seen grow into young ladies during the past six years:

The weather was cold and sunny most of the time (“cold” means afternoon highs of about 18-20C), ideal for cycling. Here is the harbour of Santa Pola:
