Week 20: Keukenhof/BXL

The locations for week 20 are Keukenhof, one of the main tourist attractions of the Netherlands, and the Ixelles neighbourhood in Brussels.

First, Keukenhof, the famous flower showcase between Amsterdam and The Hague, open only about 6 weeks each year. My in-laws from Puerto Rico are currently visiting, and of course we had to take them there. I tried to select a few images which are not the standard postcard shots.

The first image is what Keukenhof is all about:

The day was nice, so of course there were plenty of tourists, even though it was a weekday. This guy was very serious about close-up shots with his digicam:

This couple had obviously seen the baby pictures by Anne Geddes:

The next two images are a bit on the humorous side. First, a sign which is clearly not obeyed by everyone:

Second, a man and his dogs doing what many men end up doing at Keukenhof: waiting for his better half.

Then we move on to Brussels, which I visited Tuesday and Wednesday. These three images are from a walk in my favourite part of the city, Ixelles, and more specifically the part of Ixelles known as Matonge or Little Zaire because it is populated by many African immigrants (it also has one of the city’s best camera shops, Campion Photo). The first image is a snap taken while walking from my car to Campion:

The square outside the church of St. Boniface:

And finally, a clothing shop which is in a state of some disarray:

Addition on 28th May. Several visitors to this site suggested that the above picture of the mannequins would work better in B&W. Having converted the image, I tend to agree with them:
