Week 14: back to Alicante

A week that began in Denmark and finished back home in Alicante, with some iffy but photogenic weather.

I woke up early on Sunday morning at my hotel in central Copenhagen. My flight was around noon, so I had time for an early morning walk, also to get some caffeine into my body, since the hotel restaurant was closed due to Covid restrictions. Fortunately, there was a grocery store with takeaway coffee just 50 meters down the street. Thus fortified, I continued my walk, stopping at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek which had a nice Rodin exhibition, sadly inaccessible due to the same restrictions that kept me from getting breakfast at the hotel:

I kept walking towards Christiansborg, a complex of buildings which houses the Danish parliament, the Supreme Court and the Queen’s reception rooms, so all 3 branches of government are represented. To get there, I crossed a canal on a small bridge called the Marble Bridge from which there is a nice view of the adjacent street:

The Royal Stables are also located in the area, on the back side of Christiansborg:

This is the front of Christiansborg, with the Parliament on the left, and further back the Supreme Court. The huge balls were installed a few years ago, following the terrorist attacks using trucks or cars as weapons in France, Germany and other countries:

I walked back to my hotel, checked out and took the metro to the airport. I like these two statues of travellers in the terminal:

The departure lounge looked just as desolate as Alicante airport did four days earlier (although Copenhagen airport is bigger and nicer):

Easter Monday started with some nice sunshine. I walked down to the beach early, the cleaning people were still at it:

Later in the day, my wife and I drove to a golf course near my office to play a round. My performance was not good, but I loved seeing this goose family on the course:

Afterwards, our daughter and her high school friend Julio (who studies in Granada but was here visiting his parents) joined us for lunch at the golf course:

And the desserts are not half bad either:

On Wednesday I was in a meeting at the office, and for once not online. So I wore a tie, a garment rarely used in the past year. Even then, I chose to wear my beer tie:

When I returned home, I found my daughter’s delicious banana bread, right out of the oven:

Thursday morning the clouds were heavy:

Saturday morning was grey and rainy, unusual here in Alicante:

I finished Saturday with a bike ride in the afternoon. The clouds were still heavy, but I stayed dry:
