My habitual cycling route takes me to the nearby mountain village of Aigües. It is 20 km from my home, of which the last 10 are constantly uphill. So by the time I reach the main square of Aigües, I am ready for a few minutes’ break, and so are lots of other cyclists. Here are some guys filling their water bottles:

To continue the healthy theme, one evening I cooked a very hearty veg soup for me and my daughter (my wife was off skiing in Andorra):

Later in the week, after my wife had recovered from the skiing, she cooked one of the classic Belgian dishes we used to enjoy so much when we lived in Brussels, moules in a white wine broth:

On Sunday afternoon, I had an errand south of the city, and I took the opportunity to drive down to the salt flats of Santa Pola, one of my favourite locations around here:

Tuesday night we had the monthly wine tasting at the office, this time of California wines, presented by an Argentine guy who has a company importing New World wines to Spain:

The first wine, a Sauvignon Blanc, was actually the best; the reds that followed (Zinfandel, Cabernet) were OK but certainly not worth the price:

On Friday, one of my favourite eating places, a beach restaurant I “discovered” last summer, Hostal Maruja, re-opened for the season. A few of us went to have lunch there. This is Antenina, our Lithuanian trainee, getting a good taste of our lifestyle:
