Last weekend, I went to Amsterdam to see the Chinese New Year celebrations. The narrow streets of our Chinatown were very crowded, and I was not able to get close enough to get decent pictures of the dragon. So, as I often do in such situations, I focused on the action around me instead.
It was really crowded, with a Texas man in the foreground:

Another photographer caught my eye:

On the way to my car, I ran into these Mozarts on the Dam square:

The next four alternates are completely different: black & white images, far removed from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Last week was quite cold and wintry, although there was no snow. I stopped at a rest area south of Utrecht on my way to work one morning and took some pictures of the adjacent road and fields.
A typical Dutch country road:

Same road, different viewpoint:

Frozen weeds and fence:

And finally, while walking my dog, I took this self-portrait, inspired by an Ansel Adams picture:

Weeds and fence – it eally gives some the impression that it is rather cool on that day. An arctic look to it. I like the B&W choice of it.
