After last week’s driving up and down Western Europe, this week I present more pictures from my home, Alicante.
Main
This is a view of the coastal road on which I drive to work every day. My house is somewhere behind the tall buildings:

Almost every Saturday I go to the Mercado Central to buy goodies for the weekend. This time I saw some pretty girls dressed up for an occasion, and I was not the only one looking at them:
Alternate 2
Inside the Mercado, I continued my research into the looks of meat vs. vegetable vendors. This girl is slicing ham. I’d say it is one point for the butchers:
Alternate 3
The Volvo Ocean Race starts from Alicante on October 11th. The boats are in the harbour, undergoing the last preparations and testing:
Alternate 4
Around the pier where the boats are moored, a Race Village has been constructed, with all manner of attractions for young and old:
Alternate 5
While the girl in the preceding image took the spinning in her stride, this (admittedly younger) boy was somewhat uncertain about the whole experience:
Alternate 6
Every Sunday, there is a small antiques/junk/coins & stamps market in the square in front of the town hall:
Alternate 7
Another image from that market:
Alternate 8
When I take my dog for a walk, the local cats do not always look kindly on us:
Alternate 9
Another dog walk picture, a small shopping centre 5 minutes walk from my house. Its main attraction for me are the dry cleaners where I take my suits and, more importantly, the all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant:
Alternate 10
On the outskirts of Alicante there is a neighbourhood called Santa Faz, centred on a monastery of the same name. This is the street that runs alongside the monastery:
Alternate 11
And these are some neighbourhood kids who asked me to photograph them:
