A quiet week with a lot of work, and some interesting weather at the beginning and the end of the week.

I start with food. The seafood counters at the local supermarkets continue to impress me, even though I have lived here for more than 10 years now. The selection, the reasonable prices, the quality…it is all there. And the little labels contain information on where the fish was caught (if wild) or farmed, when it was landed, etc. I eat fish almost every day, sometimes both lunch and dinner:

Then a couple of sushi pictures from our local sushi restaurant, where we treat ourselves to an occasional lunch on weekends. The quality is really quite good; surely not up to Tokyo or San Francisco standards, but it has the advantage of being 5 minutes from our place:

The week started with a day and night of hard rain. My lemon tree probably needed the water, and the lemons certainly looked pretty:

The golf course acquired some additional water traps, albeit temporarily:

I took a drive along the beach to see the effects of the rain. The bike path was wet, to say the least:

The surfers were out in force to take advantage of the wind:

I stopped at the beach near El Campello harbour. Not much action on the playground or the pétanque piste today:

But the cats were there as usual. This one looks like he is giving me a fierce look, but in fact he was walking towards me to get petted:

We live in a windy place. I think the harbour authorities need to invest in new flags (the three flags represent the European Union, Spain, and the Valencia Autonomous Region of which we are a part):

A few random photos taken while cycling. A “no entry” sign in the middle of nothing to enter:

The anarchists do not like our Prime Minister (translation: “fuck you, Rajoy”). I do not like him either, but I might express it differently:

A neighbourhood in Aigües:

The metal fence is ugly but the locals have tried to make it more attractive:

A grab shot from the centre of Alicante. Four mannequins with faces of space aliens:

During the latter part of the week, a winter storm hit most of Spain. Here in Alicante we did not get any snow or freezing weather, but on Friday, at the office, we were admiring the snow-covered mountains in the distance. On Saturday, I drove along the beach to take some pictures. The air was crisp and clear, and Benidorm was easily visible in the distance:

And the sight of the snow-capped mountains just behind the beach hotels and apartments of El Campello was amazing, whether in colour:

Or in B&W. Those mountains are no more than 30-40 km away:
