The second week of March was very much about the celebration in our office of the International Women’s Day on March 8th, and of course my usual escapades on two wheels.

For the celebration of the struggle for gender equality, one of the members of our art club, Arnaud, had produced a series of photos of employees of the office and their relatives, posing in t-shirts with appropriate slogans. In the afternoon of March 7th, we hung them in our cafeteria. Here, Arnaud is unpacking the roll-ups:

My Finnish colleague Kari, who happens to be the president of our art club, poses with a photo of his daughter:

We delegated the task of the actual hanging of the photos to Arnaud. I provided moral support and photographic recording. All manner of safety rules were violated in the process:

The next day, a conference was held in our auditorium, about various subjects related to women and intellectual property:

This and the next photo were made with a combination of equipment more than 50 years apart, a modern Fuji digital camera and a Leica 90mm lens from the 1970s:

Ana, who appears in the previous photos, was also the main person on Friday. She is leaving our department for greener pastures elsewhere in the office, so we gave her a nice send-off:

On Friday afternoon, I stopped by the beach for a beer on my way home, and enjoyed the sights and the late afternoon sunshine:

At the weekend, I cycled to Villajoyosa, stopping first on Playa Bol Nou, a nice secluded beach just south of the town. Not many people there, except this couple:

I then moved on to the main beach of Villajoyosa:

Finally, I stopped at the fishing port. Villojoyosa is one of the most important fishing ports on our part of the Mediterranean coast, much more so than Alicante. There are lots of boats, big and small:
