This week is again a bit of a mixed bag–just some snippets of my life here in the Netherlands. There is going to be a general election here on November 22nd, and the campaign is in full swing. One of the fringe parties running is called Partij voor de Dieren, a single-issue party focused on animal rights. I caught one of their campaigners talking to a rather sceptical voter on a street in Hilversum:

During the weekend, I rode my motorcycle to the nearby town of Harderwijk, a beautiful place on the water:

One evening that same evening, we were playing Scrabble in our living room. I crushed my wife and the children, of course 🙂 Here are my son and daughter, ganging up on Dad to no avail:

Sunday we went to The Hague to walk around a bit. My wife and our daughter hit the shops while I hit the streets. Here are two couples, the first one on the square opposite the royal palace, the second on the main square of the city:

The statue of Willem I on the main square gets absolutely no respect:

A man reads the newspaper on the square:

The final image is from my commute to work. I often stop at this rest area (De Lucht on the A2 motorway). A motorway rest area is a rather mundane place, but it can be transformed into something interesting by the light of the rising sun:
