This has been a quiet week, with a lot of work, among other things preparing for the business trip to San Francisco the following week. In fact, I am posting this week’s blog from the lounge at Frankfurt airport where I am waiting for my flight to San Francisco. Most of the pics this week are of people.
Main
On Monday night, I had the pleasure of hosting a visiting economist from the UK Intellectual Property Office, Ben:
Alternates:
Alternate 1
Ben’s delightful wife Trish had also come along for the trip:
Alternate 2
A busker outside O’Hara bar on Esplanada de España, with some local fauna listening:
Alternate 3
Thursday night we had the monthly wine tasting at the office, this time of Austrian wines:
Alternate 4
Philippe is in charge of our food service, and this evening he was the head sommelier as well. It was funny to listen to a French guy trying to pronounce Austrian place names and names of grapes, such as Blauburgunder etc:
Alternate 5
Two of my friends and colleagues in conversation. They are Polish and Lithuanian, respectively, so of course they converse in English :-):
Alternate 6
And this pretty face belongs to a colleague from the Czech Republic who sat across from me at the wine tasting:
Alternate 7
Friday evening my wife and I walked to the nearby Lizarran for tapas. I liked this scene because the guy looks as if he is scared by the plate being offered to him (the system at Lizarran is that the waiters bring around plates of tapas and you just take what you want and pay accordingly):
Alternate 8
My wife’s favourite tapa, a spinach croquet:
Alternate 9
Finally, a picture taken just a few hours before posting this PAW, in the lounge at Barcelona airport while waiting for my flight to Frankfurt:
Great people shots. I personally miss having contact with new people like that. Socially, my life is pretty sterile. Travel safely !!
